For most of my life, I have looked at vegetarians much like non-smokers and members of the alcohol league. I admired their great moral principles, their virtue, but I found them a little too moralistic for me. It was a shock to learn that most people who abstain from
drinking or smoking do so for the simple and selfish reason that they get the best out of life by not smoking and drinking alcohol. I found admirable the principles of vegetarians who found it morally indefensible to kill animals for food when one can eat so many other things, but I had the shock of my life when I realized that most vegetarians do not eat of meat for the simple reason that they found the vegetarian diet healthier and more enjoyable.
You will find, anyway, that a significant proportion of your main meals are already made up of vegetables. In this case, you will only have one adjustment to make: make sure that, if the vegetables are cooked, they are not to the point that the nutrients are destroyed and their water content evaporates. One of the good solutions is to pass them in the pan, or to steam them.
You will also discover that by applying the deconditioning techniques that I have described, as you see your pounds melt away, your health will improve and you will regain your energy, you will have less and less desire to eat junk food. I no longer drink milk, tea or coffee. I no longer eat sweets, desserts, chocolate, cookies, or dairy products other than butter, and one of the side benefits I get is that I no longer want or need to eat sugar refined.
The only conscious effort I made was to eat only fruit for breakfast. Even that was not a real effort. My only regret is that I haven't done it since the day I was weaned! To sum up, let's think about a few useful tips.
